Inspired by the history of the Miao people( Chinese minority ) To preserve their wealth during these journeys, ancestors melted their assets into silver—a precious, portable commodity that eventually evolved into a sacred cultural token.
Miao use clothing and ornamentation as a medium to bridge nature, community, and the self. Lacking a written script, they weave their heritage directly into embroidery, creating what is known as a "wordless history."
Inspired by this heritage, the embroidery patterns in this work draw from Miao silver iconography—incorporating dynamic swirl patterns, interlocking rings, and motifs echoing the continuous flow of rivers.
